Problems:
Long lists of similar looking content makes it harder to find a starting point.
Similar layouts from page to page make it difficult to orient yourself within the site.
Too many links of the same style make it hard to know what to click on.
What we did:
Highlighted interesting content to give people a few clear starting points to dive in.
Added variety to layouts so you sense progress as you move through the site.
Refined tiny design details to draw attention to the high value links.
Bagcheck is a fun way to discover and share items we use to do what we love: computing, photography, cooking or sports. Started by Luke Wroblewski and Sam Pullara in mid-2010, the site was acquired by Twitter in August 2011.
Bagcheck had been live a few months.
