L'institut Franco-Japonais de Tokyo
ABOUT THE CLIENT
L'institut is the official cultural and language center of the French government, an epicenter of activities for Tokyoites, including exhibitions, films, classes, festivals and more.
WHAT WE DID
- Bilingual Web Design
PROJECTS
Institut.jp redesignVIEW LIVE SITE »
This redesign aimed to bring liveliness to what had been a quiet website, and neatly organize hundreds of pages of content to serve students, French expats & francophiles looking for culture and learning.
In the two short months after AQ's redesign, the site saw a 100% increase in page views and courses catalog requests.
Highlights:
- Permanent single event pages that can be shared, printed, revisited and indexed by search engines.
- Vivid, human photography highlighting the institut's charismatic teachers, and stylish decor.
- An information architecture that encourages discovery of other facilities and programs.
- A standards-compliant platform, ensuring accessibility for visitors with disabilities, and optimal visibility on search engines.
Study Abroad Fair Mini-siteVIEW LIVE SITE »
L'Institut offers many ways to study French on and off campus, but this event marked their first formal effort to send their students to France for their studies. The event was a success, with 13 schools exhibiting and over 400 attendees.
This simple minisite attracted 7000 visitors in just a month, and laid the groundwork for a more permanent Study Abroad fixture, due Fall 2007.

With our fancy new interface, students deftly reduce hundreds of school and class choices down to just the few that match their unique requirements. Once they have their wishlist, they can send it to the school and make an appointment, all in a few easy steps.
Highlights:
- Students can quickly test out their preferences against available classes with auto-updating search results. No more frustrating back and forth.
- Icon-based interface breaths life into otherwise mundane search parameters
- Students edit their class lists and make appointments on a single checkout page, no login required.
